CASUALTIES.
A married man named J. B. Foster, residing 1 atfDarfield, was bush-felling yesterday, when f*charge.of explosive went off prematurely, with the result that Foster's right hand was severely injured. He was taken to the Christi phuroh 'Hospital, where two fingers were i i ''amputated from the top joint. His ..condition, early: this morning was reI; ported to be fair.'

In the taxi, which was' driven by Frank Dennes, taxi-owner, of Greytown, were ten passengers, but only one was hurt. This was Thompson Turei, who spine was injured. He was taken to the Greytown Hospital, and there lies in a critical condition. The other passengers are suffering from shock ; and bruises. I A woman, believed to be a Mrs Smith, Suffered concussion by falling from, or being run over by, a motorcar in the Ngahauranga Gorge. Miss Anderson, a middle-aged woman, while singing at the Devonport Presbyterian Church, dropped her hymn book ahd fell on'the floor. When she was carried out a doctor pronounced her dead.
