The fourth test match begun at Munchester to-day. The weather was cloudy, and, there was rain overnight. The wicket was slow and dead. Maj-ne, Mailey, Ryder, and Oldfield were omitted from the Australian team. The Englishmen are:— Tenny on, Douglas, Fender, Ernest Tyldesley, H'aLows, Parkin, Russell, Mead, Parker,. Wool Ley, and Brown, Tennyson won the toss and batted, Russell and Brown opening ' to the bowling of Gregory and McDonald. Score—No wickets fcx 30 (Russell 17, Brown 18). A PROPOSED MATCH. London, July 21. Mr P. F. "Warner, writing- i» the "Motoing Post," says he would like to see a match between the combined Universities and the Australians. It is rumoured, that such a match may he played at Eastbourne at the end of August, Maclaxen captaining the Universities' team.
