At the annual 'meeting of the New Zealand Forestry League held at Wellington last week, the report of the executive for the, year ending March 31st Btated that the last twelve months had been marked by considerable activity. Realising that the legislation passed last session gave the executive some assistance in carrying oat itß policy, tut was by no means adequate, it was considered necessary that a strong body of public opinion should bo formed in ~ oirder to imprees Parliament and to secure the passing of a complete Forestry Act, which would ensure the placing of the new forest serrioe on a satisfactory footing. May Morn Forest waa being surveyed with a, view to State purchase. and unsuccessful efforts had been made to prevent the _ sale of Mason's Gardens, which contained some valuable exotic trees. Mr A. T. Clark had generously given an area of,bush on P&ekakariki Hill for public use, and it was hoped that Iris example would be followed T>y others. Considerable satisfaction was felt at tho placing of 8i sum upon the estimates for the establishment of a School of Forestry, and the executive hoped for the early establishment of such an institution. The following officers were elected President, Sir James G. Wilson j hon secretary, Mr F. W. Furkert; hon. treasurer, Mr A. L. Hunt; auditors, Messrs McKay and Little; councillors, Hon D. fiuddo, Messrs •J. Deans. L. O H." Tripp. Nfewton'ffing, E. Crosby Smith, J. Orcbiston, and E. A. Wilson.
