MOROCCO.

(Received July 24th. 5.5 p.m.) MADRID, July 23.; A strong contingent of natives violently attacked the advanced Spanish positions at Melilla (Morocco). It is reported that several hundreds of Spaniards were killed and wounded after a desperate struggle, which is continuing. General Sylvestre, commander of the garrison, is reported to have committed suioide when he heard of the disaster. Other reports state he was ,wounded* King > Alfonso is ;< hastening from San Sebastian to Madrid. Reinforcements are being sent to Melilla. Madrid- reports that official advices state that the native ttttaok on Melillia , compelled General Silvestre's troops to[ Abandon the Iberiguen position and retire to Anna!. The nativeß then out the line of communications, necessitating a further retirement. After directing an .epid struggle General Silvestre wae killed. •
