OBITUARY.

MR A. J. WILSON. (Received July 24th, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 22. The death is announced of Mr A, J. Wilson, founder of the "Investors' Review," and a well-known critic of Australian finances. An Auckland telegram announced the death of the Rev. G. B. Munro, aged 73. He was for 40 years minister of St. Luke's Presbytery Church, Remucra, prior to 1918, when he retired. Mr F. W. Masefield, of Khandallah, Wellington, who died last week, was for a time in the teaching profession, and worked under the Canterbury Education Board from 1873 to 1881, when he Went to Wellington as second master of the Terrace School. On account of .poor health, he gave up the teaching profession and joined tne Civil Service as a clerk in the old Property Tax Department in 1883, and in December of that year was transferred as a clerk to the Official Assignee's office. Later he came to Christchurch in the same DeSartment, nnd in 1897 was appointed egistrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages for the City of Wellington, and Registrar of Electors. In 1905 he was made Chief Electoral Officer, and four years later succeeded» Mr von. Dadelszen as Registrar-General, which office he held till his retirement from the service "in November, 1916. His wife predeceased him some years ago, but he leaves an adult family.
