WARD'S v. SPEIGHT'S.'

Teams, representing Messrs. Watd and Co.'s Cricket Club and tho same firm's Miniature and Social Club, yisited lhinedin at Easter, where they were the guests of the employees of Messrs Speight, and Co., City Brewery. Cricket, matches . were played against Speight's team and a team from the CHago Cricket League, and a miniature rifle match was fired against Speight's team. The latter did everything in their power to entertain the visitors during their stay, and the trip was thoroughly enjoyable. - In the cricket match, played on the Caledonian Grounds, Ward and Co. batted first, and made 134 (H#rry 54, Harker 18, Cunningham 12,' French and Hutchings .10). Speight and Co. replied with, 28 . (bckhoid lu). For Ward and Co. Harry took four wickets for 3 runs, and Wilson four for 20. For Speight and Co., ; Barnes took twq wickets for IS' runs, Laurie two for 24, Holleyihan four for 49, »nd»Eckhold two for 46. in Jhe match against.the Otago Cricket Leacuels :epresentative team Ward and Co. made.-92 (Fitzgerald"*3s>, and the League 127 (Swmney 61, .fain© 47). For Ward and : Co.. Harry took seven wickets for 41 runs, Weston "one for 46, and Hutching® two'for 85. For the League Thomas-took six wickets for" 34 runs, Haineitwo for 17, and Swinney one for 7. - ."■•••■

In the riflo shooting WaTd Co. v. Speight and Co., the latter won by-11 points. Scores:
