EXTRAVAGANCE.

TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." Sir, —I see in a report of the Parliamentary proceedings that Mr Massey invites any member of the House to draw his attention to any extravagance in administration of any department of the Public Service. Of course no member dare do so, as it would probably, cost him his seat and principal means of livelihood. Therefore I, as an outsider, would suggest to Mr Massey that there is a tremendous extravagrfhce in his own department, in which I make bold to say that not one man, from the highest' to the lowest, earns half the wages paid him. I am not going into details. All taxpayers know them well enough.—Yours etc., TAXPAYER.
