Fine weather favoured the Forbury Park Trotting Club for the concluding day of its Summer Meeting, and for an off day the .-attendance was good, while tho racing was full of interest. Carbinia was a hot favourite for the New Zealand Trotting.. Stakes, and won handscynely after getting away. badly. Willie Lincoln annexed the twoirile race,, the Forbury Handicap, defeating! a select field of twelve, and- he paced one of his beat saces to date. All started in the Second Amateur Handicap, six of the ten competitors being on the limit. The favourite, Coinage, led' from %tart to tinish. . and going strongly, won with a little in hand from St. Alwyn. Coinage is an aged gelding by Lord Derby from Cinders, and is owned and trained by W. Grico, of Ashburton, St. Alwyn. paced a. solid race, 'being always in second place. Wattie Senior, owned and trained by L. Davidson, slowed speed in patches, but was well beaten into third place. Imperial • Boy was promi.nent for *n. time, when, lae broke, and' Littlefield, failed to see the distance out with _ sufficient socod to concede the placed division 72 yal-d-s? Te Whare Ohild did not leave the mark, and King Copa fell during the race. ■ Malice was the only withdrawal from the Telegraph Handicap, L.ockie Wood being favourite, backed to the extent of 900 tickets ir.ore than Coldwater. L-ockie Wood, who haW the services of A. Pringle in the saddle, began smartly and led until four furlongs fiorn homo, when Coldwater put in his claim said won with ridiculous ease, and by getting to tho end of two miles in 4min 44sec registered a fine performance. Coldw-ater is a four-ye&r-old gelding by* Coldstr&am Bolls from Jjady' s Maid, end" being only a young horse, looks like winning eomo good handicap races in the future. Lockio _ Won* and Merry Love both' improved considerably on their handicap?, and along- with Coldwater, made the pace to solid, that none, of the other competitors ever threatened danger. ' "Cine well-bred three-year-old trotters -faced tho starter in the New Zealand jotting Stake?, the coupled horses Carbinia and Queen Ida being backed down to a very Short pric? with Peter Swiit the- next m demand When the various candidates took the fiel'i 'little fault- could be found with their condition, and in the preliminary Peter Swift, Carbinia, Worthy. Bingen, a-nd Aerial Bingen trotted attractively. The, field moved away elowly, tho first to show out being Peter Swift, who was followed by Carbinia, Q-i-een Ids. Worthy Bingen, and Laud C'-himea. Peter Swift made the pace so.id, ■and led until a hundred yards from tome, when Carbinia challenged, and in a nne finish. Peter Swiit broke in the last forty yards and Carbinia got up to win oj' a lergth and a half, with Worthy Bmgon, who also went to a break, two lengths off third. For young trotters the display was easily the best seen on the For bury Park course, and this time registered was a recozd -or the raco. j Aeri-al -Bingen struck his quarters badly wlen doing his preliminary, and returned to the enclosure. ■ Mr Pettie's oo!t was withdra^n«from, the race, and the investments returned, 3e» "ten per cent. T . rru All started in the Forbury Handicap. New Brighton-trained Willie Lincoln demonstrated his superiority over his opponents, and thus accounted for the two principal races at the meeting. He p&id s» useful dividend, Goldstream mflde * better chowing- than on the opening l day, £n> iehed in e&cond piaco just ahead of Aloerfc Cling, who also gnawed improved form. Trtx Pointer made a good ehowing, and two furlongs from home looked like finishing 1 in the money, when a bad passage put & stop to hor progress.
