TO THE KDITOR OT "THS Sir,—-If the suggestion has «* already been made, I would like to saggesb to his Worship the Mayor and the citizens of Christchurch that we can find no more suitable residence for aor Governor-General than Holly Lea, almost in the heart of the city, yet quiet, approached by two streets (it is bounded by Manchester and Madras street!, not crowded with traffic), ample pynwt • for garden parties. The house in internal finish and appointment* is superior. I am told, to any other, with unda accommodation for servants, ctttwa, and motors. If necessary, wa could hire fields for horses, in St Albans. when needed. The ladies, I am told, find their rooms too large. Young people want plentv of space to move about in, and can fill it all; lonely old people feel still more lonely in bigspacea—it is empty space to them. The funds provided by selling or leasing Holly Lea would provide a much more suit* able, comfortable home for the ladies than their present mansion.—Yours, etc., FLORENCE PRATT-
