Our Blenheim correspondent telegraphs that a pioneer identity died on Saturday in the person of Mrs 'Gifford, relict of the late'Mr Isaac Gifford, whose death occurred some twenty years ago. She had .attained the age of 95 years and eight months. Mrs Gifford, who was predeceased by three sons and one daughter, leaves two eons and five daughters, and there are 44 grandchildren, about 80 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Her grandchildren are an active generation, and have played a leading part in the affairs of 'Marlborough. One of them has been Mavor of Blenheim,' and another president of the Marlborough Chamber of. Commerce. On Saturday, evening Miss C. Considerable interest attaches to the announcement made by Mr James Bryson, representative of the Universal Film Company, that p'niversal City is willing to engage a New Zealand girl to' act in its productions.
