CANADA.
GOVERNOR-GENERAL QUESTION. (By Cable—Press Association—Copyright.) (Australian And. N.Z. Cable Association.) NEW YORK, February 3The Halifax correspondent of the "New York Sun" says that Canada is in attempting to forecast who will succeed the Duke of Devonshire as Governor-General. The appointment of Lord Burnham is discounted as a "Northcliffe prank." There was some talk that a Canadian • should be made Governor-General, and the Right Hon. Sir Robert Borden's ■ name baa been mentioned, but the Dominion, with the exception of a email Tladical section of the population, pre- " ford an outstanding figure from Great Britain, thus keeping the tie between ' Canada and the Old Country strong. Sir Robert became an Imperial states- > man during the war, but he is too much interested in politics to permit him to * Secomo an acceptable Governor-General.
