'Kie resolution introduced by tuo Opposition party to determino tho attitude to be taken on disarmament threatens to disrupt the party. MaDy members agree with tho proposal, but. assert it is impracticable for Japan to curtail her military and naval programmes. The 'lvokumin Shir.oun" points out in an article that 50 per cent, of t)hq national expenditure will be devoted to tho Army and Navy, creating a lecord-breaking example in the world's history, yet Japan was unable to compete with Britain or the United States.
