The Misses Rivers, of Hurunui, North Canterbury, have returned after fivo weeks' holiday spent in the North Island. Miss Alice Oharmrion leaves to-night for Auckland, -where she will bo the guest of I>r. and Mrs Chapman (Taka- '• Th 6 Aronside Nursing Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade held the first meeting for 1921 in the Brigade rooms on Thursday- evening, Mrs Watkins, lady superintendent, in charge. Mrs Watkins gave a short lecture on infantilo paralysis. Two new members', were elected. At yesterday's meeting of the Canterbury Education Boar.d regret was expressed that iliness should have necessitated the resignations of Miss Chillingworth (Christchurch East) and Miss Hayes (St. Albans). In the ease of Miss Ford (Hook) it was 'agreed to express appreciation of her long and valuable services. Sister Kathleen is visiting New Zealand in the interests of thfe West Ham Central Mission. Sho will preacjb. tomorrow evening in the Oxford Terrace Baptist Church, and will tell of the work that is being done in London's dockland. On Tuesday, in the same church, she will deliver her illustrated lecture, which has attracted so much attention, entitled "Lights and Shades L\>wn East."
