CARDINAL FORRARI.

The death of Cardinal Forrari was most dramatic He was a. peasant at PaWia, who became Archbishop of Milan, and wad universally beloved. When it was noised abroad that ha wa§ doomed, owing to cancer in the throat, immense crowds besieged the Archiepdscopal Palace, clamouring for adtftiflßion. The dying prelate exclaimed: "It is the grand good-bye, throw open the doore. Let them all come." For a fortnight interminable queues fr6m the highest in the See to the humblest peasant passed the deathbed, five thousand to ten thousand people receiving the blessing daily. t The Cardinal displayed stoic heroism, and refused narcotics. When cylinders of osygen were brought in he pencilled a note to the doctors: "These are sixteen inch sheila for speeding folk to eternity. Why not let a Christian go : peacefully to Paradise, as Clod and Nature will."
