ASHBUBTOH. The meeting 'convened»by the . Of Ashburton with a view to organisms a big sports carnival was very iaigetv attended, and every form of sport *as thoroughly represented. It vas decided to hold the carnival, on the Soo* Grounds, and an influential committee was appointed to arrange details. Mr T. H. Hunter offered £5 6s toward* the prizo fund, and i\lr A. P. Raven W* loived with another £5 ss. It ps decided to approach the County Council, the Borough Council, the Ashburton County Racing Club, the Ashborton. Trotting Club, and the varions merchants, tradesmen and others for financial support. \
