Herd, states that the facts are riot quite as reported. While 1 cpming into the city he saw the motor-cycle, which.was coming behind him at a good pace,, strike a. rut at the side of the road and turn into a side channel. Subsequently •it struck an electric tram pole and raced along £he road. Mr Herd zigzagged his van in front of the motor-cycle and managed to stop it, thus preventing a possible accident further along the road. He then turned back and, rendered assistance to the rider of the motor-cycle, who had been thrown' off. .
