In explanation of the fact that the result of the seamen's ballot 'will not be available for three weeks, it ia stated that the papers from all the States must, go to Sydney before tho counting commences. It is expected that a deputation will ■wait on Mr W. M. Hughes this week lo endeavour to bring about an immediate resumption of work. SYDNEY, February 3. Officials of the Marin© Transport Union are extremely disappointed at the prospects of a prolongation of the 6triko. v , The ship-owners stated yesterday that the vessels will be recommissioned as soon as the required undertaking for uninterrupted running is given by the Seamen's Union executive. STANDARD OIL WAGES REDUCED. NEW YORK, February 2. _ It is expected that the Standard Oil Company! one of the largest employers of labour in America, will shortly announce a 10 per cent, wage/reduction.
