The House of Representatives Naval Committee have' recommended the pass-, ing of an Appropriation Bill providing for ninety million dollars to continue the naval constructions, which sum is 248 million dollars less than the Navy Department requested. ITALIAN AIRSHIP PURCHASED. (Received February 3rd, 8.30 p.m.) WASH3NGTIN, February 2. The War Department has ajinounced the purchase from the Italian ment of the airship Roma, the second largest semi-rigid airship in the world. The Roma is 410 feet in length, and has a cruising radius, of 3300 miles. The price paid was 200,000 dollars. SUBMARINE BAMMED. (Received February 3rd, 8.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, February 3. The pilot ship Philadelphia, rammed the submarine LI near Philadelphia. The crew, were saved, and the vessel was beached in a heavily damaged condition.
