To the recently published records of the remarkably long life, of early British. steam engines there falls to be added .the case of an engine which has been in active service for one hundred and thirty-fife years. This was a pumping cngino made by James Watt himself, the inventor of the original condensing steam engine. It was used for pumping a dry dock on the Clyde, and was-re-moved a short time ago because of the closing up of the particular harbour where it was ab work. It will be placed in a; muaeun^
