There were adz' oversea steamers in port during! the week-end, and another one is in the stream awaiting a berth. In addition to these there were, the colliers Kenkom ■ Mara and Trewellard, and ft lumber eohooner, besides several coastal veeeele. Another collier is dtie this morning.. Nine more oversea vessels are expected daring the next fortnight, some to load, but the majority to discharge. The waterside workers did not vfork overtime on Friday night, on account of the fatality on the Kahika. Rain prevented any work being done on Saturday. In accordance with the usual practice when a member of the Union is killed on the waterfront, a stop-work funeral will take place thii mornings To-morrow morning the usual monthly atop-work meeting will be-held. With all these stoppages while the shiping ia piling up fast, a se-riona congestion is threatened. Fortunately th». delay will give the goods sheds at Christchurch a chance to catch up somewhat, and there ehould be a large number of empty trucks available this week. These will probably be a shortage of labour, manv of the men being away harvesting. The new goods shed At Ohristctapah for oversea goods will open to-morrow, and may relieve tha position somewhat. - STEAMER# WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE OF NEW ZE AL AN Di Awanui—Navua, Kauri, Waihemo, Mqana, Fiona, Waiwera.
