PRIZE DISTRIBUTIONS.

DUNELM SCHOOL. The annual prize-giving of Dunelm school was held in the Durham street school on Thursday evening. After the annual report had been read by Mr Ferris, the headmaster, the prizes were presented by the Very Rev. the Dean of Christchurch. The prize-winners were - Languages—A7, Marriner. 1, McKellar 2; A3, Biss 1, Simpson 2; A3, Flower: B1, Ballantyne mi: B#, Guthrie. Mathematics —Set 1., Ballantyne ma 1, Marriner 2; Set II., Simpson;. III.. MeCredic; Set IV., Munne, special, Wilson: Set V., Flower and Ballantyne mi equal: Set VI., Cooper; Set VII., Stevenson: Set VIII.. Hewitt. English —A1. McKellar: A2, Flower; 81, Wilson; B2, Bridges-Jones: C1. Stevenson 1, Jamieson 2: C2, Hewitt. English essay— McKellar. Reading—Marriner. Drawing— McKellar. Writing—Biss. Dux of school—* Marriner. LAURISTON SCHOOL. The breaking-up ceremony in connexion with the Lauriston school took, place on Wednesday afternoon last, a large number of parents and friends being present. Mr H. J. Crothers, chairman of the school committee, presented the prizes won during the year, the chief prize-winners being: — Standard Vl.—Mildred Cretney and Edith Maidens 1st(equal). Standard V. —Lena Letham 1st. Standard IV.—Jean Letham 1st, Forrest. Letham 2nd. May Letham 3rd. Standard lll.—Frank McNeill Ist, Phyllis Letham 2nd, Pearl McNeill 3rd. Standard II. —Winnie Mitchell 1st. Standard I.—Eileen Maidens 1st. P.4—Edna Lemon 1st. P. 3— Margaret Farquhar 1st. P.2—George Anderson 1st. P.1—Colleen McNeill and Raymond Mitchell 1st(equal). Special prize# (presented by Mr T. Mitchell and Mrs W. Goodwin) for good conduct-—Boys, Allan Letham; girls. Mildred Cretney. Special prizes by Mrs H. J. Crothere) for sewing—Edith Maidens. Sewing (Lower Division)— Marjory Lemon. Diligence—Forrest Letham. Neatness—Ella Letham. At the conclusion of the prize-giving afternoon tea was served by the ladies, after which a programme of races, etc. was carried out. The gathering closed with hearty cheers for the teachers and committee.
