Helton Rhodes, states that tho Board lias resolved .to go 110 further into the matter, because of tho very limited time tvitihin which tenders liavo to In- for warded j and, generally, on account of the fact that the Board is not in a position to guarantee the purchase money on account of probable privates pills- The thanks of tho chairman, of the Board and of its members were conveyed to Sir It. licatoii Rhodes for tlho trouble taken by him in tho matter. It is said that steamer seats would nob lie altogether suitable for the gardens, and that, in the event of citizens desiring to present seats to the Board, the iron-work could be .manufactured locally much Cheaper thah the Willochnvs seats could be purchased at. (estimated at £7 or £8), and that tho Board's staff could put them together. The secretary of the Board (Mr W. F. Hilson) informed a reporter yesterday that several people lma offered to present seats for tflio gardens.
