A deputation from the Auckland branca of the Returned Soldiers' Association, consisting of Messrs Andrews (secretary, Scott, and Jacobs, waited on the Minister of Lands? (tho Hon. D. li. Guthrie) to-day, to bring under his notieo some of tlie anomalies of tho present system of immigration. _ Mr Andrews explained that :t was tho emphatic opinion of liis executive t'.iat incorrect information was being supplied to intending immigrants by the Overseas Settlement . Committee in London, though he was suro tluit Sir James Allen and the High Commissioner's office explained the situation ti tiiy as far as land and bouses m New Zealand were concerned. The Minister, in reply, said the matter was not altogether in his sphere, but he ivould be pleased to bring it under tho notice .of the Minister of Immigration (tlio tlon. \Y. Nosworthy). He could say from his own personal knowledge iJint Mr No.T.vorthy was anxious to lulp all classes of iinmicrants, and had arranged to send to England'an officer of tne Department, who had recently been assisting in tlio disembarkation of immigrants to New Zealand. It would be his duty to keep intending settlers advised of the true conditions at this end.
