"in the university ' examinations at the end of last year tho school was very successful. Stan' changes during the year had been few. In sjames the school had not had a very successful year. The Fifteen had worked hard, but 'had not been successful in any of the school matches. The • Eleven wore beaten by Boys' High i School after an uncertain game, but against Otago they gained a comfqrtabl:; •victory. Rowing had been carried on succftfssfullyj also the training of the cadets, wi.ule the shooting had • been i well organised. In athletic sports tho school : had done well. Two valuable, gifts had been made to the school ! during tho vear —the first by Dr. Man- - j ning, who had given £200 for an exI hibition to b'e known as the Ivan Man- | ning Exhibition, in memory of Ivan i Manning, who fell in the- war. Tho ! exhibition was to be awarded to a son !of a clcruvTiian. Tho other gift was a i sum of £oGQ from Dr. Barnett, of Dunodin, to be expended as a memorial to tho late Hal ph. Burnett, who fell in the war. Mr A. Boyle had presented a snccial prize for debating and speaking. ' The year had been iiotablo for two im- ; portant visit*--that oi tho Prince of Wales and General BirXwood. In conclusion, Mr Flower' expressed his 1 thanks for tho help ho had received from old boys, parents, and boys of the College. I Mr Harper said thofc ho had been connected with tho College "boy and man, ,, for CO years, and he folt it a great honour to be raised to the position of sub-warden, and to be asked to distribute tho prizes.
