Tho report on tho year's work at the school, .winch vraa read at both ceremonies, stated' that 66 candidates .were euccessful in the following examinations:—Teachers D. and C, Public Service, Pitman's junior and Eenior, ahd National i>usines3 Collego, Sydney, bookkeeping, and typewriting. On August 31st *ho school was examined by Mr Schneider, Government inspector. The following is an extract from his report:—"The pupils presented, with but few exceptions, acquitted, themsolvcs very creditably in the tests submitted to them. The mechanical work was ivory well done, and in the subjects that demand thought and steady application, j a lii&h standard of merit was reached. Pleasing evidence was forthcoming that several branches of handiwork, notably needlework, were taught with much skill and i success. The training the pupils are receiving in mannsrs and acts of courtesy i\ especially praiseworthy." Eighteen pupils I of the Sixth Standard were presented at tho proficiency examination and all obtainod certmcates. Fifty candidates passed the Trinity. I College and Royal Academy instrumental music examinations (pianoforte, violin, singing), in grades varying from primary to professional. Yesterday the pupils of St. Joseph's School, Lower High street, gave the annual entertainment prior to the closing of the school for the Christmas vacation. The Very Rev. Dr. Kennedy presided, and the Mav. Father Gallagher "was also present. A large number of parents and friends cf the children attended, and on enjoyable programme, consisting of choruses, action songs, drills, and recitations, was gone through. The pupils performed their parts very "creditably, giving evidence of careful and efficient training. At tho conclusion of the programme the prizes were presented j-,- D'.
