—, — CANTERBURY HEAD CENTRE. The monthly meeting of Canterbury. Head Centre R.L.S.S.-was held" nt the Tepid Baths, on Mondav evening. Present: Miss H. M. Cowley, Messrs D. Davidson, F. W. Petre, A G. Allen, and S. Haymes, who, in the unavoidable absence of the chairman wan voted to the chair. The Ladies' Committee reported that an offer of a trophy for competition among secondary school garls had been received from the Mayoress. Mr Haymes was appointed to interview the military authorities regarding instruction in life*saving for Senior Cadets and Territorials. Mr S. Hollander was appointed to the committee. ' The following awards were passed:—Bronze Meclal'ions: Gwendolyn Bowring, Verno Suckling, both of the Girls' High -FchooL Proficidencv certificates: -Avcril Robinson, Th'elma Prud»n. Florence Bell, Girls' HigV School; Christina Thaw, Victoria Short, Margaret Lamont, Ethel Tapper, - Bessie "Waliicr, Ellen Love, Wet Chrirsfchurcb Fehool. E'.ementary certificates: Kathleen Hntton, and North Brtdley, Girls' High School. , A vote of condolence was passed r::prensing sympathy with Mr S. K. Bassctt in his recent sad bereavement, members standing.
