Sir, —How few remain, how many changed, of those wo used to know! Yes, Sir, there is-a big'change, and the worst of the lot is turning Anniversary Day down. "We sons and daughters of the old people take it to heart, bub we arc certain that through your powerful paper that great day will bo restored. Sports on Latimer square,' buying cherries at Mrs Swale's shop, going down tho Avon in _ Pat O'Connor's boats, I school treats given us by the late W. H. TFynn-Williams, W. B. Cowlisliaw, Jti. H. Hennah, Hon. W. Rolleston, Frank Brittan, E. W. ■ Tippetts, Carruthers, and others—these things gave us enough to talk about for a long time. Old and young -wound up with kiss-in-the-ring; ■ our joyous laughter would ring out and Tattle all _ round Christchurch. Just plain, rollicking fun on that day, scrambling for lollies given us by tho la to Colonel Sinter. Why, Sir, it •wowk\ bring a duck off its nest to soe that fun, and now they have pulled down th,e blind on that bright and happy lGth of December. What a shame! —Yours, etc., MAHEXO.
