Dominion Alanu-fa-cturers' Association, that each, district AflEociation should consider the question of 1 tariff, and gather information, to be_ fonmrdi ed to the Dominion body for consideration, I fo that tho proposals could bo presented to I tho Government-, opened up a general disciis- ' 6ion on tlio revision of tho tariff. | Mr Black moved that a email committee should be eet up to collect information from ' representatives of all manufacturing branohea, I and secondly, to jmsih tho matter of framing recommendations. . Tho motion was seconded by rnr wyles. I Mr Woolf considered that tho New Zealand tariff .should be similar to the Australian tariff. Mr 'Climie expressed tho hop© that tn© committee, proposed to be elect od should consist of the men mo# competent to enquire into and supply required evidence. The motion waa carried, and the following were appointed a pommittee to gather information on the subject of tariff revision: Messrs Willis, Black, Bradley, Wyles, C. B. Bowie, J. A. Froitick, and G. T. Booth. The. chairman eaid that with &o many matters coming under the attention of tho executive, it wa«. essential that departmental committees e.hould be appointed. There were at present 105 members of tho Association'; that was far too small a number considering tho functions which tho Association 'contemplated undertaking, arid it was proposed to Eecure tho services of Mr, Climie, organiser of /the Progress League, in' order to bring in more members. Mr Jcnkin proposed that tluee committees eliould bs fcrrmci, these being respectively for propaganda, research, and finance The meeting affirmed the principle of setting up committees as suggested by the chairman, and it ■waa resolved that a subcommittee of four be set tip to consider the question' of nomination and appointment of members to the departmental committees. 7f n connexion with the foregoing proposal Mr P. R. Climie grave an outline of a paper he was preparing, showing how the functions of the Association could be extended, ■ and more interest in it aroused. The chairman, Messrs Wyles, Black, and flimia were selected as the Appointments . Committee.
