OBITUARY.
Mr H. Holland has received word of the death in England of Jolm McLaren, head of the firm of J. JHJd McLaren, Leeds. Sir John. McLaren ■was chairman of the Leeds munition works during the period of the war and deceived a knighthood for his services •in connexion with the output of munitions He has a brother m New Zealand—Mr "W. A. McLaren—who is known to many people in Canterbury. Mr Henry Gvles Turner, one of MelBourne's best known public men, died at his home in St. Kilda on November 30th, at tho age of 89 years. He was I horn in London and in 1854 went to I Victoria, where he. joined the Bank ot Australasia and rose to be a prominent ; Australian banker. # Deceased also j wrote much on financial' matters, and during the latter part of his life was I connected with the managing bodies of i many of Melbourne's leading businesses and public institutions.
