At the October meeting of tlie committee of tho Pluniet Society there were present—Mesdamea F. H. Pyne (in tho chair), T. Hay H. Holland, A. Sttmiland. H. A. Wright, L. Chilton, G. E. Khodcs, H. R. Smith, M. H. Godbv, G. M. Lester, H. P. Aoand, K. \V. Anderson, A. H. Bristod, Misses A. C. Freo- : man and R. Tabart. Xurse Hansard, for tho office, reported 440 babies had been brought to the rooms, 103 beins new cases, and 369 homes visited. JCurso Mackie, for the country work, reported ehe had visited all the branches. She had seen 161 babied, and had 33 new cases. The committee. decided to ap- ! point Nurse Wilson travelling nurso in place of Xurse Mackio, who leaves to be married at the end of tho year. Matron Chapman re- ; ported a busv month at tho Chnstchurch : Karitane Baby Hospital, whew extra accom- ! modation for nurses had beon provided by i erecting t-ents. A record mimbor of babies had been admitted, and all were doing well. IVo nursing mothers had been m rceidcnee with their babies. Karitano Nurses V. i Twentvman. N. Thomson, E. Aitehison, and I C. Hill had passed thSir examinations, and ! their places had been taken by JCnrses_Men;ies. M. Baker, ar.d Synsons. Three ! maternitv nurfes -would begin their Plunkot : trainir" here ehortly. For tho finances Miss ■ Ros" Tabart said the Government subsidy , hndbeen received, with tho g-rant towards the increase in wages icr the Plnnket nurses.
