SUMNER SCHOOL CARNIVAL.

Tho investiture of the winning Prince and j Princess of the Sumnor School Carnival took i placo in tho Sumner Town Hall last, night in tho presence of a large number of resi- i denta and visitors. The hall was (specially j decorated in the three colours of the contend- ! ing candidates —pink, blue, and yellow—and | the sta-ge was tastefully sot oui in_ jiot plantß | and evergreens, with a specially Illuminated i crown suspended nbovo tho thrones, and a j decorative background of coloured electric i bulbs. The first portion of the programme consisted of a splendid arrangement of items by Mrs F. C. Cother, Miss I. McDowell, Mr G. March, Mr T. M. Charters, Mr Morgan (violin), and the Ecv. Clydo Carr. Miss Lilian Hurper was accompanist. The ceremony of investiture was announced by trumpet call, and followed by a procession I along tho length of the hall, headed by eighteen attendants carrying decorated arches. Beneath these- the candidates marched to tho stage, where all took up positions. The * presentation of the winning candidates, Peggy • Dean and Austin McGibbon, was made by the master of the ceremonies, Mr T. K. Charters, who oalled upon the investing oifi- . cer, Mr G. F. Allen, to crown tho winners. This was followed__by tho presentation of the • blue candidates, ruithleen Thomas and Neil ' BateSj And of the eouthern candidates, Freda I and Kenneth A'.len, who were declared elected j to their respective titles by the winning cr.n- J dldates.
