WORK OF SESSION

BILLS STILL TO BE PASSED,

(SPECIAL TO "THE PRKSS.")

WELLINGTON, October 11

A fairly formidable list of legislation to bo completed before the session ends was given to-night by the Prime Minister, in answe- to a question asked by Mr Witty. There was, Mr Massey said, a Finance Bill coming down. It was a non-contentious measure, and he did not think it would take very long. There were also to bo a Bank of New Zealand Bill, a Mines Bill, a Coal Mines Bill, and a Counties Bill (which was at present before a committee of the House). Other measures it was hoped to take were a Compensation for Accidents Bill, a Housing B : ll, a Railways Bill, and a Land Bill. The last-named was non-contentious, and he did not think it would.take long to pass the House. Then, again, there were the Pensions Pill. Superannuation Bill, Public Service Bill, Death Duties Bill, Wnshinf-up Bill, and Local Railways Bill. The last of these was to authorise a narrow gauge of somethinp like two feet for railways in tho country. There would also bo an Explosive's and Dangerous Goods Bill, a Harbour Board Act Amendment Bill, a Rotorua Town Bill (quite distinct from the measure before the House .it present), a Nurses' Reoristr.ition Bill, nn Incorporated Societies' Bill, a Law Drafting- Bill (which would be merely a formal Treasure), an Education Bill, and an Animals' Protection Bill. He did not know whether there would be a Railway Authorisation Bill. There would, of course, be an Appropriation Bill. 'Mir Bartram: W'll tliere be a Bill dealinft with industrial life in«nrnnoe? Mr Mnssey: "Yes." He added that so for as he could see there would bo no difficulty in getting these Bills through in the next four weeks.
