Germany's latest idea to re-establish German ideas in foreign countries is through a subsidised touring theatrical company, organised regardless of cost. This organisation, founded in Munich under the well-known manager, Herr Sulzer. will engage famous stars for tours. The installation of Lord Methuen as Constable of the Tower of London recalls the fac-t that there hare been Constables of the Tower for nearly 900 years. Lord Methuen is the last of a line which begins with Geoffrey de Mandoville, William the Conqueror's man. The great Archbishop Stephen Langten, who iron Magna Charta from King John, held the office, and after him Hubert de Burgh, whom the world knows best in Shakespearc ? s version of him as Prince Arthur's gaoler, but who was a better and far greater man than the play could conveniently allow. Fairfax, tho Puritan general, "was Constable in his day. and two hundred years later came a. more famous soldier. the Iron IVuke.
