LOANS AND BOIaLS,
(By Cable—Press Association—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) BRISBANE October 5.
The Premier (Hon. E. G. Theodore), speaking at Mackay, said the Government would raise locally a £2,000,000 U an, voluntary, if possible, but, if necessary, by compulsion. Not a pennypioce in dividends would be made bv the London capitalists, who had cut off tho supplv of loans for tho development of the State. The Queensland Government would have the money. Much doubt has been cast on tho genuineness of the State electors' roll, which is said to contain more names tnan the adult population of Queensland. The State enrolment exceeds tho Commonwealth enrolment for the State \ T 04,000.
