* . ANNUAL COMPETITIONS. The Canterbury Band of Hope Union's Competitions drew another large audience to Trinity Hall, Manchester street, last evening. The various item-* were well contested, and a very interesting programme was submitted. The recalls were:— Recitation, Class Jti, Boys' Union;; ejection "The Best Drink"—Jack Watts (Knox), Horbert Goodland (New Brighton). Jim Wicks (Durham street South). Pianoforte Solo. Class C; Union selection, "Minuet," by Podcrewski —Muriel Job 113 (Richmond), Bessie Pollard (Sydenham United), Violot Quartermain (Edgeware). Vocal Solo, Class B, boys; own selection Maurice Browne (Linwood Methodist), "That's What God Made_ Mothers - For"; Colin Sutton (Avonside), "lou'll Get Heaps of Lidkings"; Eric Mnnson (Madras street Methodist). "In An Old Fashioned Town.' Recitation. Class C, girls; Union eelection "Tho Two Glasses' (Ella Wheeler Wilcox)—Clance Skinner (Riccarton United), Edna Lindsnv (Linwood Presbyterian), Valerie Tolputt (Opawa Methodist), Bessie Pollard (Svdcnham United). Tho Competitions. will be continued tomorrow' evening, whr-n the following classes will bo iheard :—Recitation, Class A, section 1 girls.; nianoforte solo, Class A; vocal duet, section 1; recitation, Class C, boys; aong in character, secticn 2: sacred eolo, soction 1, girls.
