Rxwwell, the by-law was referred to the standing committee for a leport. TJIO sub-committee on beach improvements recommended that in future the annual gala should bo held in the interests of the beach improvement fund. On the motion of Cr. Black, it waa decided to get the lighting manager's reporl -upon the erection of slot machines for the &u.pply of water and gas to ihe visiting- public on holidays. BEEKEEPERS' ASSOCIATION*. On Saturday evening, in the Trades Hall, Mr C. H. Pope, -president of the Canterbury Branch of the National Beekeepers' Association , gave an interesting address on "How I Manage Bees." He dealt with the subject from the standpoint of the practical apiarist, shojving how necessary it i 3 to be "on time"' to be a euccexsful honey producer. He explained his methods of requeening-, swarm control, eupering-. taking off honey, extracting and packing for export, and answered a nnmber of questions.
