HIGH COST OF LIVING.
to THK EDITOR OF "THE FRKB3." Sir. —A great doal has been written and said about the high cost of living, but is anything being done to prevent it? One of the latest demands is the superannuated men of different services requiring more superannuation owing to the high cost of living. Have they studied out that the subscription they paid in for forty years would 1»p paid out to them in about twelve months. Thev are receiving nil thcy paid in for. The Government aro taxing everything they can to make good their heavy demands, and will have to t tax heavier should they hay© to meet this demand- And who will hovo to pay it? Why, the worliing man, who has no superannuation to look forward to, and has not had forty years constant employment, and has °nly the old ago pension to look forward to, which is not half what these superannuated gentlemen receive now. — Yours, etc., WORKMAN.
