GERALDINE DOG TRIALS.
A highly euocessful opening gathering rewarded the recently- formed Collie Ilog Club for tho activities of its members. Tho club hold -a two days' trial on the- run of Messra Blair Brothers, Peel Fanest, kindly lent for tho occasion, and th© Messrs Tripp, of the Orari Gorge run, generously provided the necessary irethers. Sfr M. Elliott gave ovor>' satisfaction as judge, and Mr Geo, Gale, the secretary, -worked hard to secure success. There -was quits a la-rga gathering' at tho trials. The first class for dogs that had not previously -won a prize, and t.'cir task was to fetch throe sheep from the liilleidc down to a 60ft ring and hold them tl:c-rc till the shepherd grave tho word, v-hen the sliecp liad to ho yarded in a..pen; 'lite results were:—R. Trotter's Lady 3-t points, 1; J. Hinds's Orphan Boy. f.l points, 2; T. McKay's Dash, 26 points, 3; D. Pringlc's Pride, 24 points, 4. The second cl-ata, holding in the ring and yarding 1 , • resulted: —It. W. Trotter's Hons, 42 points, 1; G. Koefe's Toi, 41 j;oints, 2; J. Trotter's Scott, 40 points, 3; D. Mackintosh's Slwrp, SO point®, 4. The third class, hunta-way and e'ow, resulted: —G-.-Keefo's Itain, 27 points, 1; D. Bates's Moss, 24 points, 2; J. Hees's B.'rry, 19 points, 3; I?. W. Trotter's Star, 18 points, 4.
Clare 4 -was for farmers, 5 sheep to be driven through t.wo sets of hurdles and yarded. The results were Gordon Cain's Roy, 30 points, 1; T: J. Pa-terson's Don, 28 points, 2; A.' Scott's Pride, 20 points, 3; E. Allen's Chuin, 23 points, 4. After the trial the members of tho clnb held a very pleasant smoiko concert ;n tlic Oddfellows' Hall.
