WRANGEL'S OFFENSIVE.
LONDON, July 6. The "War Office reports that General Wrangcl's cavalry encircled a Bolshevik cavalry corps, consisting of eighteen regiments, and poured in a concentrated fire from armoured trains and aeroplanes on the troops, of whom only 150 escaped. The battlefield, was covered with Bolshevik dead. The captured include 1000 prisoners, many guns, and much transport. The prisoners include •the officer commanding the Soeond •Cavalry Corps and his staff.
SEVERE EARTHQUAKE SHOCK. ♦ (ra*SS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) 1 GISBOKNE, July 7. The most severe earthquake experienced since 1915 occurred yesterday at Ruatorea, on tho east coast. It was followed by a smaller quake twenty minutes "later. Wairongomai and Matahia felt it severely. Tho quake was remarkable for the noise it made, which caused horses and cattle to stampede. No serious damage was done.
