CASUALTIES.

When riding homo at Waikari about 6.30 last • evening, Thomas Atkinson, ( Waipara County ranger,' was run into by a motor-car. Atkinson was riding cue horse and leading another. Tho • impact of the car killed one and badly injured the other, while Atkinson was thrown some distance away and suffered a badly broken leg and other minor injuries. The accident occurred outside tho residence of Dr. Connor, who was soon in attendance. Subsequently Mr Atkiimon was brought into the Christchurch Hospital by Mr "VV. Earl, and' was operated on. He wns making satis* factory progress last evening. Atkinson is a married man with four children. J. Gordon, nged -18, residing at 14 Acton street, City, was driving a car fit Woodend about 1.30 yesterday afternoon. when a tyre burst and the car overturned. Gordon was brought into tho Christchurch Hospital suffering from bruises and shock.
