SOLDIERS' VIEWS. (PEESS ASSOCIATION TOT.EOrt AM.) WELLINGTON, Juno 3. The question of immigration was considered at the sitting of the conference of tho N.Z.R.S.A. to-day, when the Repatriation Committee submitted the following resolutions: — (1) "That the conforenco draw the attention of the Government to the increasing number of Hindus that are arriving in New Zealand, and request that the Immigration Restriction Act be amended to stop without further delay tho immigration of Hindus and Chinese, and affirm tile principle of a white New Zealand, and that all Associations throughout New Zealand be requested to convene a public meeting in their district prior to the meeting of Parliament to protest against the unrestricted influx of Hiudus and Chinese." (2) "That the immigration policy should be controlled by and be entirely secondary to the repatriation policy." (3) "That the policy of permitting and encourapng the immigration of exImporial soldiers' widows with young families, or any other persons wlio are likely to become a charge on the taxpayers of the Dominion, or upon the Pr'triot'c Societies' funds, is strongly objected to." The report was agreed to.Dissatisfaction with the administration of the Hif;h Commissioners' office in regard to immigration matters was expressed by th> conference. The following recommendation w.is submitted by the Repatriation Commit! e—"ln order to encourage the most desirable tyre of immigrant to the Dominion, the benefits of the lfppatriation Act should be extended to all Imperial soldiers who served in the fn-pnt war and who settle in New Zealand."

In moving the adoption of the recommendation, Mr C. W. Batten fconvenor of the committee) s->id that no fault was to l>e found in so far as Dominated immigrants wen; concerned. The Hi'-rh Commissioner's office in London was not talcing sufficient care to see that suitable immigrants were sent out to New Zealand.
