POLICY OP RECONCILIATION. (By Cable—Press Association'—Copyright.) ("The Times.") ROME, Juno 1. The Pope's encyclical letter recommends a policy of reconciliation between the spiritual and temporal powers of Italy, and aslcs the Catholic princes to show their opponents the greatest toleration.' It forgives all who distorted the Papal intention in' war-time, and rescinds the prohibition against Catholic rulers visiting the King of Italy, but emphasises that this must not "be interpreted as a tacit renunciation of the sacrosanct rights of the Holy See; otherwiso the Pontiff will renew his predecessors' protests for the purpeso of safeguarding its rights and dignities.
