Useful rains have fallen over tho greater part of the State, over an inch being recorded along the Darling, which was particularly dry, other substantial falls must bo experienced in the near future before it can be stated definitely that tho drought lias broken. MELBOURNE, Juno 2. The annual war pensions liability of the Commonwealth is now £6,153,435.
The Federal postal revenue for tho past eleven months amounted to £6,358,947; an increase of £198,259 as compared with tho previous similar period. Tho Court of Disputed Election Returns, on an appeal by Mr McGrath, declared the election for the Ballarat seat at the last Federal election void, the Court stating that the evidence revealed an almost incrediblo carelessness on tho part of tho local officers. The caso arose out of _ the defeat of Mr McGrath, the retiring Labour member, by Mr Korby, a Nationalist, by one voto.
