ROAD REPAIRS. During the past few weeks that part °* London street, between Oxford street nnd Canterbury street lias been laid down with tarred ecreenings to 11 depth of several inches and thoroughly rolled with tho aid of a steam roller. Tho work is almost finished, ami the xoad will be> tho best iu Lyttelton. SEAMEN'S INSTITUTE. During the past month over 4CO seamen ivnd boys, and 25 officers visited the Institute. Three social evenings have been hold, musical parties being provided by Misses Buist, Owen, Tlatcbwell, M. Miller, and the Sumner Ladies' Guild. Supper has been provided nt all these gatherings _by the Ladies' Guilds. Sunday nnd week-night services have been well attended, and fifty New Testaments have been distributed. Six sonmen have been visited in hospital by tho help era, and in ships by tho Superintendent.
