« NEW SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS. (-/ Cablo—Press Association —Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable ikssociation.) LONDON, May 29. Tho King, accompanied by the Queen, laid the foundation stone of the new School of Economies in connexion with London University: _ ; The project has received substantial support from, London merchants, while the trustors of Sir Ernest Cassel donated £300,000. The Lord Mayor, on behalf of tho City, donated a further £50,000. Replying to the address of welcome, the King paid a tribute to tho response of the Universities to tho call of the war, and their brilliant contributions to the science of modem warfare. He emphasised that a London degree was valued far beyond the British Isles, tho advantages afforded by the resources of tho metropolis giving the University a unique influence in tho education system of tho Empire.
