They ore on i their way to Tokomp.ru Bay, where Mr ] Fordham will take over the. manager-j ship cf the New Zealand Shipping Company's branch. The Avor.side Nursing Division of the! St. John Ambulance held the weekly' meet : ng at the b'igade rooms on Thursday evening, when there was a good attendance. Mrs Watkins, lady superintendent, was in charge. Members had practice in stretcher drill, and bandaging, after which Major Gray gave an. address on first aid work. Mrs Hastings Bridge gave a tea for her son on Saturday last, at Broadway's, which was largely attended, desuite the severe weather. Mr Arthur I Bridge now of Auckland, is paying aj hurried visit to Cliristchurch, after a long interval, and was thus enabled to see many of his old friends. Among those present were Mr and Mrs Bloxam, i j Mrs Alfred Bunz, Mr nnd Mrs Bea'i, I Dr. and Mrs Manning, Mr and Mrs' Donaldson, Mr and Mrs Malcolm, Mr i ! and Mrs Walter Bridge, and many j ethers. | A very enjoyable kite-hen evening , was spent at 199 Lichfield street by ' the waitresses employed by Messrs P.' i Burke and Co. to wish their fellow-: : employee, Miss M. Cummins, every hap-1 • piness in her approaching marriage, j All the gifts received were useful, and ; were much appreciated. Mrs Williams proposed the health and prosperity of i Miss Cummins, which was seconded bv Mrs Witte. After a number of songs and music supplied by Mrs Dogherty, rianeing continued, making a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Those respon-, sible for the gathering were Mrs Williams. Mrs Witte, and Miss Comrie.
