It is understood that the Rev. Hector McLean, of Invercargill, has been appointed minister of St. s Church, Ihinedin, to succeed the Rev. Dr. Waddell, who recently resigned.
Mr Roy Brasted, national Y.M.C.A. boys' work director for Australia, has been attending a Dominion i.M.C.A. Conference in Christchurcli. He leaves for Xhinedin to-morrow.
The Rev. G. W. Christian, who for the past seven years has been viear of St.. James's Church, Lower "Riccarfon, has, in eonsequenre of continued illhea'.th, tendered his resignation of the cure to £he Bishop's Commissary.
Mr E. F. T. Eldridge, who has re r signed the position of secretary of the United Friendly Societies' Dispensary Board after four years' service, was last week presented with an illuminated address, in recognition of the zealous manor in which he had carried out his duties.
A Press Association telegram from Dunedin states that Mr Neil Galbraith, manager of the Dunedin branch of tho Now Zealand Shipping Co., Ltd., has resigned. He will be succeeded by Mr R. Cameron, of Tokomaru Bay, whoso position will he filled by Mr P. It. Fordha.m. Mr Galbraith has ac?epted a position with John Mill and Co., Ltd. Mr Fordham recently returned to New Zealand after a few j*ears of active service.
The inspectors and the members of the staff of the Canterbury Education Board met together yesterday afternoon to bid farewell to Mr J. M. iMiller, assistant secretary to the Board, who is jroing into business in Timaru. and to Mr .H. E. Longworth, who has been appointed Chief Physical Instructor to the schools of the Dominion, and who will in future be stationed in Wellington. Tlio chairman of tho Board (Mr E. H. Andrews) presided, and referred in complimentary terms to the abilities and excellent qualities generally of the departing officers. On behalf of the staff the secretary (Mr H. C. Lano) presented to Mr Longworth a handsome cnlf-skin wallet, and to Mr Miller a leather attache case, both articles beine; suitably inscribed. Mr Longworth, who had to leave early to catch his boat, briefly returned thanks, after which several sneakers,, representing various branches of education in Christchurch, expressed sorrow at the departure of Mr Miller, and their thanks for unfading and help. Mr Miller suitably replied.
