Among the appointments as Officers of the Order of tne British Empire, announced in March, was Mr George Mowbray, head porter at the Midland Hotel, Manchester, who filled the same post at the Hotel Majestic, Paris, during the Peace Conference. He must have many interesting reminiscences, "but journalists have asked him in vain for stories of the Conference. His discretion and reticence are invulnerable. He is about 50, and his clrief hobby isgolf.
