Tho Ulster Unionist Council, at a special meeting under the presidency of Sir Edward Carson, passed a resolution pressing for tho non-partition of Ulster. AN AMERICAN RESOLUTION. (Australian and K.Z. Cable Association.) WASHINGTON, May 28. The Foreign Affairs Committee of tho House of Representatives has favourably reported on the resolution sympathising with Ireland's aspiration for government of her own choice. Action by the House will bo sought next week. POLICE BARRACKS ATTACKED. TWO MEN BTTENED TO DEATH. (Received May 30th, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, May. 29. There was a desperate night attack on Kilmallock 'police barracks, County Limerick. The tiny garrison held out for five hours against four hundred attackcrs until the barracks caught fire and were burned to the ground. Two of the police defenders were burned to death and another dangerously wounded. It is believed that two Sinn Foiners were killed and others wounded, but details are lacking, as Kilmallock is isolated owing to the telephones and telegraphs having been cut and tho railway lines torn up. Excitement jn the district is intense. Other barracks were attacked and burned. The whole garrison at Kilmallock were wounded, and, burning petrol being thrown on the roof of tho barracks from neighbouring houses, compelled to surrender." *
At Limerick Junction a fireman found a human heart impaled on tho cngino of tho mail train. It is probable that a gruesome ioko has been played, as a search of the railway line does not reveal any evidence of an aocidcnt. TROOPS AND AMMUNITION. (Received May 30th, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, May 29. Tho troopship Tsaritsa disembarked 1000 Cameron Highlanders at Queenstown. The crew of the Government tug struck, refusing to discharge tho Tsaritsa's ammunition. COMPENSATION CLAIMS. LONDON, May 28. The Cork Council is confronted with new compensation claims as a sequel to the murders of police and incendiarism, involving £207,000. and is addirg 3s to the rates. Claims adding 5s have been ignored.
