ASHBURTON FARMERS' UNION.
Tiic moathly meeting of the Aahburton branch of ih« Farmers' Union was held on Saturday .afternoon, Mr 11. Wills preeidiag.
'i'hc chairman stated that it was proposed to dispense with tho ordinary business, and to ask ilr G. \V. Leadley, tho Farmers' Union delegate, who had attended the conference of producers which had been held in last Thursday, to give a resume of the proceedings. Mr Leadley guvo those present a large Eimonr.t of information in respect to what had taken place at tho conference, and in doing so stated that the producers were deeply indebted to Mr Massey and his Government for the persistent manner in which tho- had stuck to the Imperial Government iu retjard to the dispoea.l of New Zealand moat. The farmers were deeply indebted to Ur Massoy and his Government, and the Hi«di Commissioner at Home, for the manner in "which they had worked in the interests of th<> >~<ew Zealand meat growers. Mr Leadley was listened to with keen interest, and at the close of his address was accorded a vote of thanks for having _ attended the conference, and for having. given the ie acting a large amount of valuable mI formation.
